Layton-Olson
Tyler Layton-Olson is a dancer, rapper and actor. For most of Tyler’s life he has focused on developing his skills in movement.
Born in Nipawin Saskatchewan, he was enrolled in Ukrainian Folk dancing which immediately sparked his interest. Making a transition to other styles at his local studio 4 years later, Tyler got into every style he could. By 14 years old he was teaching Tap and Hip-Hop classes. Tyler’s first Contemporary Dance process was Deanna Peters’ Cross Hatch which toured Saskatchewan in 2009. Shorty after that he migrated to Vancouver. Since then Tyler has Trained with Arts Umbrella: Pre-Professional Program for 1 year and Modus Operandi: Contemporary Dance Program for 3 years. He has also received opportunities with Shay Kuebler: Radical System Arts for the past 3 years performing his work Karoshi in a Made in BC tour 2014. Then his next work Glory In Vancouver’s Chutzpah: International Festival and Incol Ballet festival in Cali, Columbia in 2015. Now returning to the Chutzpah festival in 2016 with Radical System Arts to showcase an excerpt of Telemetry. In 2015 Tyler also performed Audible with 605 collective at the Prism Festival in Panama city. He as well looks forward to working with Wen Wei dance in Spring of 2016.
