Trained in puppetry at the Théâtre aux Mains Nues, in physical theater at the Théâtre du Mouvement, and in somatic practices related to contemporary dance with Nadia Vadori-Gauthier, Shirley Niclais has been engaged in hybrid work between theater, visual arts and anthropological questioning since 2011.
With a PhD in the arts and teaching positions in the theory and practice of the performing and visual arts at Paris Diderot, Paris Nanterre and Sorbonne Nouvelle universities, her research-creation work questions the dynamics of reification and reanimation of human figures.
She joined forces with painter and performer Olivier de Sagazan to imagine the project MARCH! which became CORPS-TEXTES, a body-based writing project that multiplies the performance Transfiguration on the scale of 6 performers, on tour in 2020.
She has already acted/performed/danced with Nathalie Béasse, Medhi Farajpour, Claire Heggen and Yves Marc, Raul Iaiza, Pierre Letessier, David Noir, Eloi Recoing, Olivier de Sagazan, Eva Sanz Guillén and Nadia Vadori-Gauthier.
