Seto
Violinist Michelle Seto has been a member of the Québec chamber orchestra, Les Violons du Roy, since 1992. She has performed as a soloist with several Canadian orchestras, including the National Arts Centre Orchestra, the Québec Symphony Orchestra, the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, as well as with her ensemble, Les Violons du Roy. During her musical studies, she distinguished herself as a laureate of several national competitions, including the Canadian Music Competition, the CIBC Competition, the Début Series, and the Québec Symphony Orchestra Competition. She was awarded the “B” Grant from the Canada Council for the Arts, which allowed her to pursue advanced studies at the New England Conservatory in Boston under the direction of James Buswell. Previously, she studied with Mauricio Fuks at McGill University and in London, England. Of Chinese and Filipino descent, Michelle Seto was born in Shawinigan and grew up in Vancouver.
