Alan Lake Factori(e)

Based in Quebec City and founded in 2007, Alan Lake Factori(e) already has several stage and film productions to its credit. All of its works have been praised by critics and the public alike, and they continue to enjoy increasingly widespread dissemination. The projects Chaudières, déplacements et paysages (2009) and Là-bas le lointain (2012) each gave rise to both a film and a stage work, both of which were presented, notably by La Rotonde in Quebec City. In 2015, the production Ravages, presented in Montreal and Quebec City, pushed the creative approach proposed in the previous works even further. This time, two dance films emerged from the project: Jardins-Catastrophes (2014), which was screened in Quebec and around the world (Spain, Chile, Russia, Brazil), and Ravages (2015), a multiple award-winning film that is currently touring festivals (Russia, Ireland, the United States, France). In 2016, the site-specific creation Les Caveaux, a bold piece created and presented in an old, abandoned warehouse in Limoilou, opened the season at La Rotonde. Subsequently, Alan Lake Factori(e) continued its research by creating Le cri des méduses (2018), a colossal project that resulted in both a dance film and a large-scale stage production inspired by Théodore Géricault’s famous painting The Raft of the Medusa. In 2021, the public was introduced to the trilogy Le cycle des parades, which included three distinct works: a site-specific work, a film, and a stage production.
